What this is not
This monitor measures traffic through the corridor and records the attacks on it. It does not forecast either, and it is not investment advice.
How the attack record is kept
One row per event, never one per article. Every row carries its own source. No publisher offers a machine-readable record of corridor incidents that we may republish, so this record is maintained by the Oxon from advisories and reporting: an incident we cannot verify is left out, which makes the count a lower bound. A row without a reported position is listed and not mapped.
How transits are counted
Transit counts come from satellite ship-position data. The rows are daily and are released in batches on the publisher's own schedule, so the most recent days can still be revised. Trade volume is a modelled estimate (vessel capacity, not measured cargo). Ships in the risk area sometimes sail with their transponders off, so a transit count is a lower bound.
The pre-crisis baseline
The last clean stretch before the campaign opened with the seizure of the Galaxy Leader on 19 November 2023. Fixed on purpose: a yardstick that rolled forward would learn to call the disruption normal.
