- What this is not
- This monitor measures China's crude buying, burning and storage against official prints and observed shipping flows. It is not a forecast of prices or demand, it states no probability of any outcome, and it is not investment advice.
- The storing figure is an identity, not an observation
- The storing figure is customs imports plus domestic output minus refinery runs: an arithmetic identity over official prints, not an observed inventory. China publishes no oil-stock series, and this is the honest substitute.
- Arrivals at the crude ports
- Satellite-modelled tanker import tonnage across the eight Chinese crude ports. Daily rows, released weekly, so the newest days arrive in a batch. A leading cross-check on the customs print, never a replacement for it.
- Customs import prints
- Monthly crude import quantities, converted from ten-thousand tonnes. The headline print lands about a week after month end. January and February are published together and are shown as one combined figure. Fetched over plain http: the mirror's certificate chain is self-signed.
- Refinery throughput
- Monthly national output, converted from ten-thousand tonnes to million tonnes. January and February are one combined release and are shown as one combined figure, never split.
- Chokepoint transits
- Daily tanker transits, released weekly. Measurement only: this page publishes what passed, and never odds on what will. Malacca is shown for comparison and feeds no figure here.
